It was a sunny day in the year 2028. Katy sat alone in her room, sulking. The 12-year-old girl was fuming about how unfair her life was. Her mom had recently married her dad's best friend, a man named Jack. Katy's dad had passed away a few years ago, and from what she could tell, Jack didn't care that she still missed him every day. All Jack ever seemed to do was boss her around and tell her how spoiled and ungrateful she was.

To make matters worse, Jack had two sons of his own, 15-year-old Matt and 10-year-old Luke. The two boys were a couple of brats. They were always teasing Katy, playing pranks on her, and making her life miserable. But Katy was done being their victim.

The two tiny boys found themselves face to face on the couch cushion. They looked up at Katy with terror in their eyes. Katy couldn't help but laugh at the sight of them. She reached out and picked up the two insect-sized boys, holding them in the palm of her hand.

"Don't worry, boys," Katy said in a singsong voice. "I'm not going to hurt you... much. I'm just going to leave you on the floor for Mommy to find. I hope she doesn't notice you before she steps on you."

Katy could see the fear in her stepbrothers' eyes as they realized what she was planning. They began to beg and plead with her, but their voices were too small for Katy to hear. She simply giggled again and placed them on the floor.

Just as Katy was straightening up, she heard the front door open. Her stepmother had arrived home from work. Katy quickly hid behind the couch, peeking out to watch as Brenda entered the house.
